Virtual Cross Country Challenge Results

The final results* of the nationwide Virtual Cross Country Challenge (which was as close to an All Irelands as we got in 2020) have just been released by Athletics Ireland and the Regional Development Officers who drove this great idea. A massive 4600 juveniles took part and -as per normal years – to finish in the top 100 in any category represents a superb performance as there literally hundreds in most races, closer to a thousand in some.

Galway City Harriers had a wonderful participation rate and we congratulate all who took part and all who made the 100* listed (below) in their categories today…William McDonnell was highest placed of our athletes, finishing in 18th place of 138 u17 boys, while Seamus Hayes was a brilliant 27th of the u11s. Further details of final national placings* are listed below and in the attached link.

*It must be noted that all these results need to be taken as a guide or benchmark as courses and conditions varied across the events held by individual clubs.
