2021 National Juvenile Track and Field Championships

Athletics Ireland have released a very important update today regarding Juvenile competitions for the Summer. There have been some major changes made, of which the key ones are:

  1. There will be NO RELAYS at Nationals from under 9 to under 19
  2. Qualification for Nationals u12 to 19s will be restricted to TOP 3 only via Connachts for each event.
  3. There will be NO OPEN ENTRY for older ages at Nationals as before – with an exception for athletes on international duty when Connachts are being held. This places a much greater importance on attendance & performance at the Connacht championships.
  4. There will be no All-Ireland ‘B’ Championships at end of August. This has been a nice extra opportunity for non-qualifiers to nationals but it will not happen this year.

See amended Calendar of Events (just the final date gone from the previous version) and full press release attached.Next competition is County Championship for Under 9s/10s/11s in Dangan on June 19th.

A reminder for intended participants that registration is now open for the National Juniors in Santry on June 19th and 20th.

All other juveniles are next up on Saturday July 3rd in Dangan for the u12-19 County Championships.

County Relays may be held in advance of this date…TBC.
